Muizzu outlined the measures, which include reducing the number of political posts within the Administration and scaling back or cancelling unwarranted celebratory events.

Notably, Muizzu announced that this year’s Independence Day celebrations would be significantly scaled down, with the exclusion of the usual float procession, official reception, and festivities. Instead, the celebrations will be limited to the official function marking Independence Day, resulting in considerable reductions in state expenses.

Additionally, he hinted at the forthcoming announcement of additional measures to reduce public expenditure further.
