National Service Initial Training First Batch Concludes With Over 340 Graduates

The first batch of the National Service Initial Training has concluded, with 344 students graduating from the programme.

The training programme was launched on 1 October by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu with the aim of strengthening national spirit and promoting Islamic values among young people. A total of 350 participants initially enrolled in the programme, which was conducted over a three-month period.

The training covered a range of areas, including nationalism, responsible citizenship, religious education, leadership development and language proficiency. Participants also underwent physical fitness training focused on exercise and character development.

In addition, the programme provided practical training in first aid, firefighting, self-defence, camping activities and military-related skills.

The Ministry of Defence has stated that preparations are under way to commence the second batch of the National Service Initial Training in January, with an expected intake of 350 participants.

The government has also announced plans to introduce vocational and technical training under the National Service framework from January, enabling graduates to pursue skills-based training aligned with their interests and the availability of courses.
