NSPA Reports MVR 871 Million in Unpaid Dues by November Last Year

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) disclosed that it had MVR 871 million in unpaid dues to various parties as of November last year. 

This revelation was made during a meeting of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee. According to statistics provided by the NSPA at the request of the Public Accounts Committee, the agency owed MVR 871 million to various state and private entities by the end of the previous administration on 17 November 2023.

The current year’s budget includes an allocation of MVR 4 billion for aid disbursement through the NSPA. This aid encompasses support for single mothers and medical treatment-related assistance. The NSPA’s expenses have been increasing annually.

The Public Accounts Committee also highlighted the pending payments to ADK from Aasandha and the NSPA. It was revealed that Aasandha and the NSPA collectively owe MVR 144 million to ADK.

During the meeting, committee members criticised Aasandha for refusing to provide the requested information. The committee has decided to make another request for the necessary data.
