Over MVR 589K Spent on VP’s Montenegro Visit

Vice President Hussein Mohamed Latheef incurred expenses totaling MVR 589,736.65 during his official visit to Montenegro from the 23rd to the 27th of last month, as revealed by the President’s Office, yesterday.
President Mohamed Muizzu has committed to disclosing the expenditures for both his and the Vice President’s international trips within 15 days of their completion.
The Vice President’s travel arrangements included business class accommodations, as confirmed by the President’s Office. A breakdown of the expenses associated with the trip is as follows:
- Business class tickets for five individuals: MVR 492,746.10
- Pocket money for five individuals: MVR 64,638
- Meals in Montenegro: MVR 23,823.72
- Meals in Istanbul: MVR 7,895.07
- Visa expenses: MVR 633.76
It was previously announced by the President that official travel would be limited to business class in an effort to manage costs effectively. However, it was noted that the Vice President had previously undertaken trips to China and Geneva in first class, citing a lack of available tickets, as explained by the government.
