During the Committee meeting, it was discussed that PG Shameem should be given the opportunity to address the allegations made against him. Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid proposed that Shameem be invited to attend a committee meeting to answer the allegations. This proposal was approved by the Committee.

Consequently, Committee Chair Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarak announced that a five-day notice would be sent to Shameem today, informing him of his right to respond to the allegations in accordance with parliamentary procedures.

MP Ibrahim Nazil of the opposition, noted that there are eight allegations aimed at removing Shameem from his position. Given the seriousness of the allegations, including those concerning religious matters, Nazil suggested that the public should be informed. MP Mauroof Zakir also emphasised that PG Shameem should be provided with a fair opportunity to address the allegations.

The Committee Chair added that the decision on whether the meeting will be held in private or not will be determined by the members.
