Parliamentary Proceedings Cut Short Due to Series of Disruptions, Again

The parliamentary session held today came to a premature end due to a series of procedural points and disruptions, resulting in the adjournment of the proceedings.
One of the key matters on the agenda for today’s session was the presentation of a no-confidence motion against the Speaker and Vice-Speaker of Parliament. The motion was initiated by the House of Representatives.
However, before addressing the scheduled agenda items, the Chair followed the parliamentary rules and gave priority to an emergency matter brought forward by MP Adam Shareef Umar.
During the motion’s presentation, MP Ali Azim interjected and raised a point of order, asserting that the House was being conducted in violation of the rules of procedure.
Azim’s objection sparked a commotion among opposition MPs, who insisted that the session should adhere strictly to the prescribed rules. In response to the situation, the Speaker decided to consult with the political parties represented in the House before making a decision on how to proceed.
As a result of the disruptions and the need for further deliberation, the session was adjourned. The matters on the agenda will be addressed at a later date, to be determined based on the outcome of the consultation among the political parties involved.
