PGO Streamlines Court Correspondence in Domestic Violence Cases
The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has launched an automated process aimed at expediting court proceedings in cases pertaining to domestic violence.
This move by the PGO reflects a proactive approach towards leveraging technological advancements to ensure timely justice for victims of domestic violence.
Under this initiative, individuals affected by such cases can now track the progress of their cases, monitor scheduled court dates, and stay informed about key developments via the PGO website. The overarching goal is to empower victims by enhancing their understanding of the criminal justice system and encouraging their active participation in legal proceedings.
In line with the objectives outlined in domestic violence prevention legislation, providing adequate protection for victims throughout the course of criminal prosecutions remains a paramount concern. The PGO underscores the importance of swift trials and urges courts to adhere to prescribed timelines to ensure fair and impartial proceedings.
To expedite the handling of domestic violence cases, the PGO has implemented an automated letter system. In each instance where domestic violence is alleged, the PGO promptly dispatches letters to the respective courts, urging expedited scheduling and fair trial proceedings. This proactive measure ensures that courts receive timely reminders, even in cases where there may be delays or subsequent reviews. The overarching aim is to incentivize courts to efficiently resolve cases of domestic violence.
Emphasising its ongoing commitment to enhancing public services, the PGO highlights its proactive use of diverse technological resources for the benefit of the community.
