President Awards Uninhabited Islands to Ukulhas and Thuraakunu 

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended the jurisdictions of Haa Dhaal Thuraakunu and Alif Alif Ukulhas to include uninhabited islands near them respectively.

President Muizzu made these changes through two resolutions to amend the registry of inhabited islands under powers granted to the President in Chapter 8 of the constitution and the Decentralisation Act of 2010.

The resolutions, which were signed and posted in the government gazette today, decreed that the uninhabited island of Vangaaru in North Thiladhumathi Atoll will be included within the jurisdiction of Haa Alif Thuraakunu 
Similarly, the second resolution decreed that the island of Galagili in North Ari Atoll would be included within the jurisdiction of Alif Alif Ukulhas.
