President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed this afternoon for a two-day visit to Fuvahmulah City and Addu Atoll.

During his visit, the President will meet with members of the City Councils of Fuvahmulah and Addu, as well as the islands’ Women’s Development Committees, to discuss local issues and the most urgent needs of residents. The itinerary includes visits to Fuvahmulah City and the Addu City islands of Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo, and Meedhoo.

Ahead of the trip, President Muizzu officially designated Maradhoo and Hulhudhoo as separate islands, following the 25 October public referendum. These islands are set to receive independent island councils, which will come into effect after the next Local Council Election.

Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials accompany the President throughout the visit.
