President to Meet With Media for the First Time This Year on Press Freedom Day

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced today that he will answer any questions journalists ask him during the press conference he will hold on May 3, World Press Freedom Day. This is the first time he will be holding a press conference this year.
During the fourth episode of the Rayyithunaa Eku podcast, hosted by the President’s Office, he announced plans to hold a press conference on Saturday, 3 May — World Press Freedom Day. The President’s Office will host the event, and he has invited journalists to ask him any questions, assuring that he will answer them all.
“I invite journalists to prepare for that day. Start writing the questions soon,” he said in Dhivehi.
The last time President Muizzu met with the press was on December 5, 2023. He said his administration prioritises transparency and established a special website called Sarukaaru to share information with citizens. In addition, President Muizzu personally answers questions from the public through this podcast, while his cabinet regularly engages with citizens via platforms such as Ahaa Forum (meaning “Ask Forum”). They also respond to journalists’ questions during press conferences.
