The project, funded by part of the grant provided to the Maldivian government by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Enhancing Climate Resilience and Food Security (ECRFS) Project, will supply goods and materials for the School Garden Program in the Greater Malé Area.

Quotations must be submitted by 14:00 hrs on 6 April 2026 via email to procurement.resilience@environment.gov.mv.  Requests for clarification regarding the bid should be sent to the same email address by 13:00 hrs on 2 April 2026. The full request for quotations (RFQ) and supporting documentation are available for download from the Ministry’s website at www.environment.gov.mv.

According to the ministry, the ECRFS Project (ADB Project No. 57002-001) aims to strengthen climate resilience in selected islands, enhancing the capacity of communities to plan, adapt, and respond to climate change through improved early warning systems. One of the project’s key components focuses on promoting climate-smart technologies and practices in agri-food systems. This includes addressing challenges such as limited topsoil and freshwater by supporting water-efficient and resilient urban farming.

As part of this component, an Urban Farming Training Plan was developed, with school gardens and demonstration plots forming a primary part. The Ministry said the objective of this assignment is to establish three school gardens in the Greater Malé Area, covering equipment supply, input provision, and associated civil works. The selected party will work closely with the Urban Agriculture Specialist of the project to implement the programme according to the concept designed for each school.
