Raudh Arrested in Connection With Woman’s Fall

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested Raudh Ahmed Zilal last night in connection with the 21-year-old woman who fell from a building to the roof of a warehouse in Henveiru last Friday.

In a message shared by the police, they said they arrested the 21-year-old Raudh under a court order yesterday at 6:20 p.m. Last Friday, a 21-year-old woman was found on the roof of the warehouse, which the police later revealed was because she had fallen from a small window on the ninth floor of Henveiru Fentoniya. The woman and Raudh entered Fentoniya, which the police claim is a house they had no connection with, because it was unlocked, around 4:30 a.m.

The woman found on the roof was reported to the police around 7:30 a.m. that morning. 

In addition to Raudh, police have seized the phones of the other seven individuals linked to the case under a court order. At yesterday’s press conference, police disclosed the identities of these seven individuals, confirmed that their passports had been confiscated, and stated they are prohibited from leaving the country.

Police also searched the terrace, as well as the second and fourth floors of Machangoalhi Maandhooge Dhekunuge— the residence where the gathering involving the nine individuals initially began in the early hours of Friday, 18 April. They further searched the third floor of Kashiveli, according to their statement.

During a closed press briefing on Tuesday evening, police said they had not previously searched these locations, as they had not considered them relevant to the investigation at that time.

Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, said in a post on X on Wednesday evening that although he co-owns Maandhooge Dhekunuge with three of his siblings, he had no knowledge of the gathering or of any events that occurred outside his own apartment — even if they took place within the building. Two of his nephews are involved in this case.
