Road construction in A.Dh. Maamigili has resumed after several years of delays, with renovation work officially relaunched yesterday.
The project was inaugurated by the Minister of Housing, Dr. Abdulla Muthalib. Maamigili’s roads were first paved and modernised in 2018 under the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen.
During the subsequent administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) was contracted to complete the remaining work within 14 months. However, the project stalled and remained unfinished for several years.
The Maamigili Council stated that while work had not fully stopped, progress had been very slow. The RDC has now been re‑awarded the contract to complete the remaining road development projects on the island.
