SAARC Secretary General Visits the Maldives

The Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Md. Golam Sarwar, arrived in the Maldives yesterday for an official visit.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this visit is part of a series of introductory visits that Sarwar has been making to member nations since assuming his post in October 2023.

During his visit, Sarwar is scheduled to meet with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer. He will also hold talks with Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya.

Sarwar’s visit will conclude on Thursday, August 8th. He is accompanied by his spouse, Taslima Sarwar, Shahiya Ali Manik, and Bhavesh R. Trivedi from the SAARC Secretariat.
