Save The Beach Maldives, a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to the research, conservation, and restoration of Maldivian coral reefs and beaches, is urging beachgoers to refrain from using party poppers. While these festive items may appear fun and shiny, their use on the beach poses significant environmental concerns.

Party poppers, when used at the beach, can be difficult to clean up and are easily dispersed across the sandy shores. This scattering of plastic poppers can have detrimental effects on the marine ecosystem.

To address this issue, Save The Beach Maldives suggests embracing alternative options for party poppers. One such suggestion is creating them using fallen leaves, which not only adds a touch of natural beauty but also eliminates the environmental impact associated with plastic waste.

As an NGO committed to the preservation of Maldivian coastal areas, Save The Beach Maldives aims to raise awareness about the importance of responsible waste management and the protection of marine life.
