Speaker Abdul Raheem Concludes Official Visit To India

Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has concluded an official visit to India, during which he attended the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) held in New Delhi.
The Speaker was accompanied by Hulhudhoo Member of Parliament Mohamed Shaheem, Parliament Chief of Bureau Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, and Senior Foreign Relations Officer Aishath Iman.
The CSPOC conference focused on key contemporary issues, including the use of artificial intelligence and social media by parliamentarians, efforts to enhance public understanding of parliament and citizen participation, and matters related to the security, health and wellbeing of members of parliament and parliamentary staff.
On the sidelines of the conference, Speaker Abdul Raheem paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of India’s Lok Sabha, Om Birla. The meeting reaffirmed the close and evolving partnership between Male’ and New Delhi, underpinned by mutual respect, sustained dialogue and a shared commitment to parliamentary democracy.
The Speaker also met with Milton Dick MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia, during the sidelines of the CSPOC conference.
