Three Arrested in Drug Operation in Dhuvaafaru

Police have arrested three people on suspicion of drug-related offences following an operation in Dhuvaafaru, R. Atoll.

According to the Police, Dhuvaafaru Police and Counter Narcotics Intelligence carried out the operation on the morning of 27 December after receiving a tip-off.

The suspects are Mohamed Ali, 39, of Ujala Ali, R. Dhuvaafaru; Ismail Shaufan Ali, 28, of G. A. Dhuvaafaru; and Nazeeh Hilmy, 32, of New Light, Gemanafushi. Police arrested the three on suspicion of smuggling and possessing drugs.

Police state that following the remand hearings, the court ordered Ismail Shaufan Ali to be held for five days, Mohamed Ali and Nazeeh Hilmy were remanded in custody for 30 days.
