Tourism Minister to Attend “Welcome India” Roadshow to Promote Maldives Tourism

Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal has embarked on a visit to India to participate in the “Welcome India” 3-City Roadshow, aimed at promoting Maldives tourism.
The roadshow is a collaborative effort between the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), and the National Hotels and Guesthouses Association of the Maldives (NHGAM).
Starting on 30th July in New Delhi, the roadshow will continue on 1st August in Mumbai, and conclude on 3rd August in Bangalore. This high-profile event will bring together leading industry stakeholders from both India and the Maldives, providing a platform to foster new partnerships, strengthen existing ties, and showcase the Maldives’ unparalleled beauty and diversity.
Joining Minister Faisal in the Maldives delegation is Mohamed Khaleel, Advisor to the President on Tourism Development. MMPRC has also announced a raffle giveaway at each roadshow, with lucky winners receiving holiday prizes from industry partners.
The raffle sponsors include Kandima Maldives, Nova Maldives, Arena Hotels, Kaani Hotels, Villa Nautica, Sirru Fen Fushi, Holiday Inn Kandooma, and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives.
While the Maldives has attracted over 71,000 Indian arrivals so far in 2024, the country is currently ranked sixth among the top ten source markets. India held the top source market position for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2023, but slipped to sixth earlier this year following an incident involving three senior Maldives government officials.
