During the meeting, members were appointed to four committees delineated by the party’s Articles of Association, encompassing Disciplinary, Appeals, EC (Elections Commission) and Member Affairs committees.

The Elections Commission formally recognised PNF on Thursday, April 25th.

The party’s inaugural congress on April 10th, encountered unanticipated obstacles due to police intervention, culminating in a standoff between party members and law enforcement. The congress was attended by 420 members.

Shortly after President Muizzu assumed office in November, Yameen, formerly under house arrest, severed ties with the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) – People’s National Congress (PNC) coalition – and initiated efforts to establish PNF.

Following a recent High Court ruling overturning his convictions for money laundering and bribery, Yameen is now eligible to engage in political pursuits without legal constraints.
