We spoke to the owner of D’sserts, who shared their journey. They have been planning to start this business for the past 5 months. It finally commenced in October of this year.
Even before starting the business, baking and cooking have always been a passion for them. So, opening D’sserts was a dream come true.
D’sserts’ Thai tea cake is their best dish, said the owner. It is a soft, moist cake topped with a smooth Thai tea cake custard. It has pleasant, earthy tones with nutty undertones, and a kick of sweetness to things off.
We asked the owner if the government should help small businesses, they said that running food trucks in the Maldives would be beneficial. However, due to government regulations, small businesses weren’t given permission to go forward with that plan.
They also added that it would be great if the government could help small entrepreneurs pursue their business and dreams within the regulations.
