2022 will be the year of The Last of Us

A veteran industry insider has stated that the rumoured The Last of Us 1 remake is almost finished and will be release along with The Last of Us Part II Multiplayer in the latter half of 2022. Although not confirmed, other rumours hint that the remake of the first game might be a PS5 exclusive so as to give Naughty Dog some experience with the hardware before they move on to make their next big PS5 entry. The multiplayer portion of TLoU II has been in development for years well after Part II released due to Naughty Dog increasing the scope of the online portion to include more than just team deathmatches.
HBO’s TV show based on the franchise will also release in the second half of 2022 as well, which gives credence to the rumours that the remake and the Part II multiplayer will launch around the same time for more exposure.
Raytracing even in games that don’t have raytracing
Nvidia is stepping it up in the next GeForce update for their RTX lineup of graphics cards. Two of the most important are DLDSR and SSRTGI. These two impressive acronyms will be responsible for making your games run better on RTX graphics cards. DLDSR will make games look much sharper at the same resolution thanks to AI-based supersampling and SSRTGI will make older non-raytraced games look significantly better using enhanced lighting and shadows.
This will be available soon for Nvidia GPU users, and will most likely show up in some form or another for AMD GPUs as well.
God of War for PC is out Jan 14th

God of War was such a popular game that not only did it win numerous Game of the Year awards, it also won the award for winning the most Game of the Year awards ever. God of War is easily one of the best action titles out on any console and PC players will finally be able to experience Kratos in all his bearded glory in 4k and unreasonably high framerates this week.
The sequel – God of War Ragnarök – will release exclusively on PlayStation sometime in 2022.
Sony making more PS4s
The PS4 turned 8 years old last November, and Sony has no plans on stopping its production. In fact, Sony is increasing it’s planned production of PS4s for 2022 in order to combat the low supply of their newer PS5 console. Since the PS4 is cheaper to produce and uses different parts, they hope to alleviate some of the demand as most games planned to release this year are still cross-generation games that can be played on the older console as well.
Every single PS5 and Xbox Series console manufactured is almost immediately sold through with none left over for normal shoppers to find in a more leisurely way. This is due to a combination of console chip shortages and a huge surge in demand for new gaming hardware among consumers.
Sega and Square Enix joining Ubisoft in the NFT rush
Both Sega and Square Enix have recently made statements regarding NFTs and their interest in introducing NFTs into their gaming products. These announcements were met with almost universal backlash from their respective communities. Despite these large publishers showing a sudden interest in it, blockchain technology does not offer anything that traditional database entries don’t. The entirety of the steam marketplace (along with the real money CS:GO skins market) has worked for over a decade without resorting to wasteful practices such as using NFTs.
It’s obvious that publishers merely want to cash in on the NFT craze before the tulip bubble bursts, all at the expense of their own fans and players.
A Fallout TV series is set to start production soon

Fallout is a gaming franchise that needs no introduction. The TV show will start production this year and is being made at Amazon Prime Video. The show is being helped by the creatives who also brought us Captain marvel (2019) and the Silicon Valley TV series.
Little else is known about the Fallout show so far, but we can expect the dark humor that’s famous to the game and the now familiar radioactive wasteland of mutants and survivors.
