News Roundup of This Month’s Free PS+ Games
Written by: Maldivian Gaming League
The free games for October for PS+ subscribers are:
- Hell Let Loose (PS5 only)
- PGA Tour 2K21
- Mortal Kombat X

First up this month is Hell Let Loose for PS5. This is a brilliant game that combines standard FPS combat with tactical large-scale battles in a way that few games currently do. You can choose to be an infantryman to charge ahead or be a commander and lead a squad of fellow players and choose where to strike to get an advantage for your side in huge 50v50 battles.
PGA Tour 2K21 is to golf what FIFA is to football – a premier AAA gaming experience for their respective sports. PGA Tour features all the standard genre features including a career mode, local and online multiplayer modes, online tournaments and extremely in-depth mechanics to mimic how professionals play golf in real life.
We end the month of freebies with a game that needs no introduction. Mortal Kombat X is already free for all PS5 users via the PlayStation Plus Collection, and now PS4 users can claim the game for free too. Although a sequel to Mortal Kombat X was released in 2020, MKX still has a lot of fun content to offer for fans of the fighting genre. With various different modes both offline and online, the game invites everyone to test their might against its challenges.
Sony is introducing free game trials for PS5
The current roster of free game trials is only for Death Stranding Director's Cut and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Very few modern games offer a demo for players to test before purchase, so we consider this to be a very consumer friendly decision. You can even continue your trial’s progression and achievements if you decide to purchase the full game after trying out the demo.
You can try out Death Stranding for up to six hours and Sackboy for up to five hours. This includes the time it takes to download the game so make sure to line up your playtime schedule to take advantage of the trial.
The entirety of the Twitch website and user details leaked

On 6th October, the entire Twitch website and server/user info was dumped onto the internet by anonymous hackers. Although Twitch has yet to make an official statement as of the time of writing this article, the contents of the leak have been verified to be legitimate by multiple sources. An incredible amount of information is in the leak including usernames, passwords, twitch streamer’s incomes, unreleased mobile/console versions and the actual Twitch platform source code.
The damage this leak could do to Twitch is incalculable. The damage it could do to you can still be contained if you’re a Twitch user by changing your password ASAP.
Rumour: More powerful Nintendo Switch in the works
Rumours of a 4K capable Nintendo Switch with a more powerful chip has been flowing around since 2020. Those rumours were seemingly squashed earlier this year when Nintendo announced the Switch OLED model which has the same hardware as the original Switch – just with a better screen. But there have been a lot of additional rumblings about an actual Switch Pro version in addition to the OLED version.
The latest round of rumours comes thanks to Bloomberg who confirmed with their sources about a dozen different Nintendo Switch games being developed targeting a 4K resolution. Since the current Switch model is incapable of doing 4K visuals this can only mean that those games are being developed with a new hardware revision in mind.
Bluepoint Games Studio is now part of PlayStation
Bluepoint Games – most famous for the critically acclaimed remakes of Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls – has joined the highly lauded roster of first party Sony games studios. Bluepoint have been working almost exclusively with Sony since their first game released in 2006. It’s little surprise that Sony decided to finally acquire them considering the quality of their work.
With them now a core part of the PlayStation first party development cycle, we look forward to seeing what other surprises Bluepoint has for us.
