Public anger continues to mount in the Maldives as key questions remain unanswered following the incident involving a 21-year-old woman who fell from a building in Henveiru. The case has drawn heightened scrutiny, as some of the persons of interest have ties to the government, raising concerns about potential political influence on the investigation.

The Police held a press conference earlier today after facing widespread criticism for previously conducting a closed-door briefing that excluded media, prompting backlash from both the public and journalists.

These images were captured last night, showing demonstrators gathered outside the Sergeant Adam Haleem Crime Investigation Building. Dozens of young protesters called for greater transparency and accountability from the authorities.

The woman was found with severe injuries early on Friday morning after falling onto the roof of a house in Henveiru. Her current condition has not been officially confirmed. The unclear circumstances surrounding her fall have led to growing speculation and public concern.

While police have maintained that the woman fell and was not pushed, logistical analyses published by some media outlets suggest otherwise. During today’s press conference, police stated that a scene reconstruction is underway and that they will share their definitive findings with the public once the process is complete.

The President’s Office dismissed Izdhiyan Mohamed Maumoon, Under Secretary for Strategic Communication, and suspended Daudh Ahmed, Under Secretary for Digital Strategy, without pay, today.

In a series of posts on X, Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed first announced that Izdhiyan had been dismissed from his position earlier today. She later confirmed that Daudh had been suspended without pay.

Following his resignation, Daudh has also been removed from the “Maldives Youth Advisory Committee.”

While Daudh is the brother of Raudh Ahmed Zilaal, the primary person of interest and the man spotted on multiple cameras with the victim, Izdhiyaan is confirmed as one of the people who were with the victim earlier that night.

During today’s press conference, the police confirmed key details such as the identities of the persons of interest, CCTV footage that was previously shown only in a closed press, and details of the investigation.
