Economic Minister Pledges Support for SMEs in Addu City
Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Addu City.
This assurance was made during a recent meeting with local business leaders, where Saeed discussed strategies to address the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and foster business growth in the region.
The meeting, aimed at identifying key obstacles and exploring potential solutions for Addu City’s business community, focused on enhancing economic development and accelerating government projects. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the session provided valuable insights into the government’s plans for the city, highlighting the significant contributions of local businesses to the broader Maldivian economy.
Minister Saeed stressed the crucial role of Addu City’s entrepreneurs in the national economy, assuring attendees of his ongoing support for their ventures. He outlined the government’s intention to complete ongoing projects swiftly to ensure maximum benefit for the local population.
During the discussions, Saeed acknowledged the diversity of businesses in Addu City and committed to implementing key measures to enhance opportunities for SMEs. These measures include reviewing and amending existing legislation to better facilitate business growth and remove obstacles to success.
Accompanying the Minister was Ibrahim Ziau Mohamed, Managing Director of the Business Centre Corporation. The Ministry of Economic Development and the Business Centre Corporation are working closely to strengthen the role of SMEs in the Maldivian economy, as part of a broader commitment to national economic development.
