MFDA Bans Import and Sale of Master Foods Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Sauce Over Labelling Issue

MV+ News Desk | March 6, 2025

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the import and sale of Master Foods brand creamy chicken and mushroom cooking sauce due to a labelling issue.

A statement issued last night confirmed that the sauce, produced by Mars Australia Pvt Ltd, contains eggs, but the allergen information was not included on the label. As a result, the manufacturer has initiated a recall of the affected batches from the market.

The World Health Organization (WHO) informed the MFDA through the International Food Safety Authorities Network that the product had reached the Maldives. The failure to list allergens on the label presents a potential health risk to consumers.

In response, the MFDA has ordered that the sauce should no longer be imported or sold in the country.

The affected batches have the following expiration dates:

  • 17/11/2025
  • 22/12/2025
  • 16/02/2026
  • 20/04/2026
  • 15/06/2026

The product is packaged in a 490g bottle and bears the barcode 9310012042006.
