The fire broke out in the Hulhumale industrial area, producing a large volume of smoke. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area unless necessary, citing health risks related to smoke exposure and reduced road visibility.
Police confirmed on Friday that three officers who took part in firefighting efforts were affected by the smoke and have been receiving treatment at Hulhumale Hospital since Thursday night. The officers are reported to be recovering.
Residents in nearby areas were advised to keep windows and doors closed and to wear masks when outdoors to reduce exposure to the smoke.
