Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race Donates MVR 678,800 to NGOs Supporting Children

Dhiraagu has announced that this year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) contributed MVR 678,800 to 13 NGOs supporting efforts to protect children.

Speaking at the event held to handover the prizes and donations of DMRR 2025, Dhiraagu’s Senior  Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility stated “Our DMRR theme, Help Protect Children, reflects our  longstanding commitment to supporting children. This year, we partnered with 13 NGOs dedicated to the  protection, inclusion, and support of children. DMRR is more than a run-it’s a celebration of purpose and  community. Our commitment also extends to caring for the environment. Powered by renewable energy  with 100% of electricity use offset, this year’s event also reinforces how technology and sustainability can  make large-scale events both exciting and environmentally responsible.”

At the time of registration for DMRR 2025, participants were given the opportunity to nominate an NGO of  their choice and a special grant of MVR 200,000 from Dhiraagu was distributed amongst the top five  nominated NGOs from the runners. 

In addition to the special grant, MVR 100 from the proceeds of each runner registration and the proceeds  from special bib number sales were also awarded to all 13 partner NGOs, adding up to MVR 478,800. In  total, MVR 678,800 was contributed to this year’s DMRR partner NGOs, to help them kickstart their  programmes, especially to initiate their plans in the important work they do to help protect children across  the country.  

The five most nominated NGOs each received MVR 76,831. They are:  

  • Cancer Society of Maldives 
  • Tiny Hearts of Maldives 
  • Maldives Autism Association  
  • Maldives Thalassaemia Society 
  • Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC)  

Other endorsed partner NGOs of DMRR 2025 each received MVR 36,831. They are: 

  • Child Abuse Prevention Society (C.A.P.S)  
  • Blind and Visually Impaired Society of Maldives (BVISM) 
  • Care Society 
  • Moms Aid 
  • Society for Health Education (SHE) 
  • The Wheelchair Association of Maldives (WAM)  
  • Diabetes Society of Maldives 

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the first and only international run held in the Maldives listed in the  Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World  Athletics-certified race route. 

Dhiraagu has now announced the date for next year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race as 30 October 2026.
