Two Seriously Injured After Gas Cylinder Explosion Sparks Malé House Fire
Four people are receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after a gas cylinder explosion sparked a fire at a house in Malé early this morning, with Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) saying two of the victims are in serious condition.
MNDF said the incident at G. Dhoogasge was reported at around 5:27am. The four injured include two Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian nationals, though further details about their injuries have not been disclosed.
MNDF Fire and Rescue Service has brought the fire under control, while a team from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is also active at the scene.
The incident occurred in a five-bedroom apartment reportedly housing 15 people. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the gas cylinder explosion and subsequent fire.
