Maldivian Island-to-Island Zipline Secures Global Excellence Award in Sri Lanka

Zipline Maldives, recognised as the first island-to-island zipline attraction of Maldives, has received the Global Excellence Award for “World’s Most Beautiful Zipline”.
According to a press release issued by its operator, Osvana Group Pvt Ltd, organisers presented the honour during the Global Brand Awards ceremony held at Temple Trees, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Maithripala Sirisena, the Seventh President of Sri Lanka, handed over the award during the official ceremony.

Osvana Group Pvt Ltd highlights that the 428-metre aerial route connects the island of Maafushi directly to Vahmaafushi Picnic Island. Operating over the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, the attraction offers travellers uninterrupted panoramic views across the Maldivian landscape, transforming the journey into an experiential crossing.
According to the statement, the award panel recognised the project for combining adventure sports, natural environment, and tourism innovation, positioning the facility as a prominent feature within the region’s leisure sector.
“This recognition is a proud achievement not only for Zipline Maldives, but for the Maldives as a destination,” stated Ibrahim Asim, Chief Executive Officer of Osvana Group Pvt Ltd, in the release. “We wanted to create an experience that allows visitors to see and experience the beauty of our islands from an entirely different perspective.”
Asim additionally credited his operational team in the press release, the local community in Maafushi, and project partners for bringing the vision to fruition. He noted that the company expects Zipline Maldives to drive growth in experience-led tourism and become a mandatory stop for international visitors.
