Maldivian VP Holds Bilateral Talks with Prime Minister of Bangladesh

On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) in New York, Maldivian Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef held a bilateral meeting with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

During their discussion, Vice President Latheef conveyed warm wishes from the Maldives to Bangladesh and congratulated Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the 81st UNGA session.

Highlighting the long-standing diplomatic ties between the two South Asian nations, the Vice President emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation in areas of common interest and fostering closer people-to-people connections.

In response, Prime Minister Rahman appreciated the greetings and reiterated the value of ongoing collaboration at the UN and other multilateral platforms, reaffirming Bangladesh’s commitment to working alongside the Maldives to advance shared objectives and solidify their bilateral partnership.
