The Maldivian government has stated its readiness to facilitate foreign investments that align with national development priorities. At the China–Maldives Investment Cooperation Forum, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu addressed participants regarding the administration’s economic strategy and its long-term development targets leading up to 2040.

The presentation highlighted recent updates to the country’s foreign investment legal framework, intended to clarify regulatory processes and establish policy consistency for external partners. Priority areas identified for potential collaboration include renewable energy, digital infrastructure, logistics, and marine resource processing.
Officials noted that bilateral trade frameworks, such as the Free Trade Agreement with China, are expected to support broader market access for Maldivian enterprises. The forum focused on commercial linkages across multiple sectors alongside ongoing developments in digital transaction systems and regional tourism flows.
