Asandha Company introduced free bi-annual medical checkups under the Aasandha scheme for individuals aged 19 to 39, today.
The initiative, fulfilling an electoral promise of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, marks one of the administration’s initial 14-week objectives.
This extension comes after the scheme’s initial rollout in January, which provided free medical checkups to those aged 50 and above. Subsequently, in April, the program was extended to cover individuals aged 35 and older, alongside the introduction of school screenings for children aged 18 and below in grades approved by the Education Ministry.
Despite the expanded coverage, concerns have arisen regarding the heightened expenditure on Aasandha amid the Maldives’ economic challenges.
