MMPRC Dismisses Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Bassam Adam
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has dismissed Mohamed Bassam Adam, who served as the deputy managing director.
The decision to dissolve certain positions at MMPRC was made during a board meeting held yesterday.
According to a top official from MMPRC who spoke to the local media today, Bassam and Asim were not fired but left their jobs after their positions were dissolved as part of government austerity measures. The official emphasised that these structural changes at MMPRC are in line with the government’s fiscal consolidation policy.
Bassam had temporarily served as Acting Managing Director of MMPRC following the resignation of Aisha Nurain Janah as Chairperson and the dismissal of Fathimath Thaufeeq (Kudee) from her position as Managing Director in May. He led the corporation until the appointment of Ibrahim Shiuree as Managing Director in June.
Additionally, Ibrahim Asim (IB), the corporation’s longest-serving employee and director, has also been dismissed from his duties.
Ibrahim Asim, the longest-serving employee at MMPRC, has been with the corporation since its inception. With over 30 years of experience in tourism promotion, Asim previously worked at the Tourism Ministry before joining MMPRC.
The significant restructuring within MMPRC in May occurred amid media reports of internal conflicts within the corporation’s management.
