The Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation after an explicit photograph depicting nudity was publicly displayed on an outdoor digital advertising screen at a commercial outlet in Hulhumalé Phase 2 in the early hours of Thursday.

According to law enforcement authorities, police were alerted to the incident at approximately 3:23 AM after reports emerged that an explicit image was actively broadcasting on a commercial LED billboard installed on the exterior of a shop located at one of the Vinares residential towers.

Officers responding to the scene contacted the shop’s management and ensured the electronic display was promptly switched off to prevent further public viewing.

The broadcast involved an explicit photograph of an unidentified woman accompanied by an overlaid text caption reading “Hacked by Leakers,” indicating a suspected cyber breach of the display’s content management system.

Police stated that a formal inquiry is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the breach and establish whether the incident stemmed from unauthorized remote access or an internal compromise.
