Maldives Immigration has replaced passport work visa stickers with electronic visas (e-Visas), with the electronic document now serving as the only recognised valid work visa for expatriates.
Under the changes, which took effect on 23 November 2025, existing work visas issued as passport stickers were automatically converted to e-Visas.
The change also requires expatriates to hold a valid e-Visa to enter or depart the Maldives.

Newly arriving expatriates must hold a valid Entry Pass issued by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology to be permitted entry into the country.
Maldives Immigration has stated that an e-Visa’s validity period corresponds to the validity of the holder’s work permit.
