Sajidha Attends Opening Ceremony of “Mahrajan Al-Qur’an Al-Kareem 1446”

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed attended the opening ceremony of “Mahrajan Al-Qur’an Al-Kareem 1446” last night at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).
The ceremony featured recitations of the Holy Qur’an by three university students and a Qari from Egypt. Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Zaahir, along with Al-Sheikh Abdul Azeez Hussain, a lecturer at the Kulliyyah of Qur’an and Sunnah, and Nimal Mohamed, Dean of the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, discussed the Tafseer and related topics of the recited verses.

During the event, the First Lady presented mementoes to the Qur’an reciters.
Initiated in 2006 by the Kulliyyah of Qur’an and Sunnah at IUM, the “Mahrajan Al-Qur’an Al-Kareem” is held annually throughout Ramadan. The programme aims to promote the art of Qur’anic recitation (Maqamat) and deepen understanding of the Holy Qur’an.
