Starting her small business almost six years ago, local artisan Maria says that she wanted to be an artist as she loved painting and pottery. She says she is happy she can create pieces that have her art and that customers can use.

Her art is beautifully featured on jewelry dishes, candle holders, as well as ring holders. Each charming dish is just right for jewelry and trinkets.

Since the beginning, she has created several pieces that are inspired by Maldivian culture and its people. She says the Maamage maatha tray from the Maama and Kaafa collection has been very popular with the customers.

Her most recent "Plucked" collection, which is now for sale, was inspired by the exotic fruits that are grown in the Maldives. Send her an Instagram direct message to purchase one of her lovingly crafted, long-lasting creations.

She says that with this being her full-time job, she would love to see the government open a local pottery center one day where everyone can come by and paint pottery or make something with clay. She says there are many who are interested in pottery but don’t have the space to do it.
