Dheena had initially began crocheting because of her mother, even though Viyelamaa had formally started in December 2022. Since she was a young child, her mother has been crocheting hats, bags, slippers, and many other everyday items.

While creating little soft toy animals was initially merely a way for Dheena to relax and keep herself busy, she soon recognized that these would make wonderful first soft toys for her future children. On the foundation of that concept, she was motivated to turn it into a business and offer these things to others so they, too, could give their children something special and significant.

Aiminabee & Thakuru soft toys and Maldivian dolls were Viyelamaa's first products. These toys were really popular among the locals, which brought a lot of attention to her page. Her mother helped her make these dolls at first for a souvenir business in Addu, but after seeing the demand, she started to make them for other people as well. These soft dolls by Aiminabee & Thakuru are a beautiful representation of Maldivian culture.

Additionally, she makes various crocheted dolls, including teddy bears, turtles, cows, and elephants.

She says she plans to grow her business within the Maldivian community by creating even more types of mini soft toy animals for babies, toddlers, and even a special touch for your home.

Dheena said that operating a business in the Maldives is challenging, especially for a tiny online business. She says that everyone is making a serious effort to provide unique products that customers will like and value. There is a ton of competition, she continued.

Although there are some online crochet businesses as well, Dheena says she wants to keep things straightforward, develop Viyelamaa at her own speed, create products that are distinctive, and keep up a high standard of quality. To help small businesses like hers, she says that the government could assist by providing them a start-up sponsor, as some people don’t have the financial capacity to get their business up and running even though they have an idea and inspiration to run one.
