The government has commenced the issuance of new land registries for residential plots in Gulhifalhu, following revisions to the area’s land use plan that resulted in a change of location for the allocated plots.

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure began the handover process on Saturday morning. The government aims to complete the registration within the next two months.

A re-draw was conducted on 31 May under the Binveriyaa Scheme to determine new plot locations, as earlier allocations were invalidated due to the updated land use plan. Original agreements have been cancelled, and new plots are being allocated from a different area of Gulhifalhu.

The registration process is being carried out on an appointment basis. The Ministry has advised recipients to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their scheduled time and to bring all required documents. Missed appointments will require rescheduling, which can only be done after midnight on the following day.

The current administration revised the Gulhifalhu land use plan after identifying shortcomings in the plan previously developed by the former government. These included insufficient space for essential public services and the allocation of plots in unreclaimed areas. The land use plan for Gulhifalhu has now been revised three times.
