Battlefield 2042 and GTA trilogy trashed by fans and critics
2021’s new Battlefield entry and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition were two of this year’s most anticipated game releases. Battlefield 2042 was seen as a chance for EA to release a more consumer-friendly game after all the backlash the company has received recently and the GTA remastered trilogy was something fans were really looking forward to as the original games in the collection were considered some of the best in the PS2 generation. Both games released close to each other in mid-November and both games have received a lot of negative attention from fans and critics since then.
Both releases had numerous troubles with Battlefield 2042 moving away from its franchise roots to more closely mimic other shooters like Call of Duty and Overwatch, and the GTA remaster having some very questionable visual design choices that actually make the gameplay experience worse than the originals. This is not to mention the numerous bugs in both games that have forced many players to resort to refunds to get their money back.
MultiVersus - Warner Bros. new fighting game

Are you a fan of fighting games like Smash Bros and Brawlhalla? Are you a fan of WB owned franchises like Scooby Doo, Batman, Rick & Morty and Lord of the Rings? Warner Bros. has heard you loud and clear. The company has recently announced MultiVersus - a platform fighting game based on their unique collection of characters. You can expect everyone from Wonder Woman, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny and even Arya Stark to appear in the launch roster for the game.
MultiVersus is set to release in 2022 as a free to play title, and the community seems to be cautiously optimistic for the game based on what we have been shown so far.
US Lawmakers taking a solid step to fight against scalpers
A new law has been proposed in the United States that aims to make buying online goods using automatic scripts and bots illegal. The new proposal comes at a time when consumers - both in the US and all over the world - are facing a massive spike in certain item’s prices because of scalpers buying up goods using automatic online tools and re-selling at hugely marked up prices.
Should this law come to pass, it would be a huge win for consumers everywhere and would greatly help to alleviate some of the supply and pricing issues plaguing the PC and console hardware industry.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday - deals we wish we had locally
This year’s Black Friday had a few deals that showed clearly how unbalanced market prices currently are. HP’s website had a prebuilt PC for sale with an RTX 3060 graphics card for $820, while the current market price for the same graphics card on eBay and Newegg is close to $900. It will literally cost you less to buy an entire PC just for the graphics card than what you would pay for the same graphics card if you were to buy it separately.
The gaming hardware market currently does not show any signs of stabilizing in prices.
[Rumour] Mass Effect TV show in the works

Amazon is still riding high from the hugely successful debut of their new high fantasy epic The Wheel of Time. Wheel of Time is currently streaming its first season while the tech/streaming giant Amazon is already gearing up for the release of their new Lord of the Rings show set to premier in September 2022. Inspired by the success of HBO’s Game of Thrones, more networks are looking to take risks by making high-budget fantasy and science fiction shows.
The internet is currently abuzz with rumors of the next big Amazon show in Mass Effect. The incredibly popular Mass Effect franchise could prove hard to adapt to a TV show format as the main character of the games are “blank slate” characters that players can inject themselves into, and translating that into a TV show could prove challenging. At the same time, the sci-fi nature of the game with its deep lore, multiple established characters, and factions would be prime sci-fi TV material. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for Amazon to make an official statement.
