The free games for September for PS+ subscribers are:

  • Overcooked: All You Can Eat! (PS5 only)
  • Predator: Hunting Grounds
  • Hitman 2

Overcooked: All You Can Eat! is the darling indie cooking game that’s a blast to play with a group. This bundle contains both Overcooked 1 and 2 including all DLC released for both games. With local four player co-op, this is the perfect game for younger players to have fun with and for more competitive players to try and outcook each other.

Predator: Hunting Grounds is for those who’re a fan of asymmetrical multiplayer games such as Dead by Daylight, Friday the 13th and Evolve. One player takes on the role of the eponymous Predator whose sole mission is to hunt down the group of four players who’ll be teaming together up on the other side. If you’re new to this genre of multiplayer, this is a great free title to test it out.

Rounding up the month we have the hit game Hitman 2. Step into the shoes of the world’s deadliest and smartest dressed assassin in this stealth game where only your imagination is the limit on how to complete missions. Hitman 2 already has a PS5 patch where you can play at a silky smooth 4k 60fps with Dualsense features on for more immersive gameplay.

More delays from CD Projekt Red

After the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 last year, CD Projekt Red informed their customers that they would be doubling down on making the game better and delivering a true next-gen experience in the free PS5 and Xbox series S/X upgrade in 2021. However, in a recent investor call, the studio stated that the promised next-gen version of the games – part of the reason why many people bought the game in the first place – probably won’t be coming this year.

This is in addition to failing to make the game run properly on the PS4 and Xbox consoles, as well as the game still lacking many of the open-world features that much older titles had delivered on decades prior. Adding on to more bad news, they also announced that the promised Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade would also likely be delayed to next year.

Rumor: A new Soulsborne PS5 exclusive

A new rumor has started about FromSoftware - the studio behind the amazing Dark Souls and Bloodborne titles – is working on a new action RPG for the PS5. This rumor comes from a source who has in the past revealed correct information about other PlayStation exclusives, so it’s a matter of waiting to see when the official announcement is for this new FromSoftware game.

First look at Dead Space remake

Below – PS5 remake

The developers of the game had a recent video presentation where they talked about what their goals were with the remake. They state they want to remain faithful to the original in the layout and feel of the infamous ship Ishimura where the game takes place, but are also updating the gameplay to include quality of life features that weren’t present in the original game.

Responding to fan questions about the remake, they said they’re focusing on delivering the best single-player experience they can, and won’t be including any microtransactions in this game. Back in 2013, Dead Space 3 received a lot of criticism for having a heavy focus on microtransaction items that pushed players to spend money in the store to buy resources they needed in-game. It’s a good sign that the developers have acknowledged this and are instead focused on making a good game this time around.

PlayStation Showcase set for this weekend

The presentation is set to begin on Friday, September 10th 1:00am Maldives local time.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the video presentation will be live streamed and will be around 40 minutes in length. Although details are sparse, many expect this to be the big Sony presentation of the year with heavy hitters like the next God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo – staples of the PlayStation brand.

Rumors are that a few brand-new games will also be announced during this showcase, including some much-asked-for fan remakes.

Paramount is working on a Halo TV show

One of the biggest gaming franchises of all time, Halo is finally getting proper live-action treatment. Set to debut next year on Paramount’s streaming service, the Halo show has been in production for almost a decade.

The Halo universe has expanded a lot with numerous books, comics, and spin-off smaller games over the decades. There’s a lot of lore and story to draw on for a live-action show. Fans of the franchise hopefully won’t have to wait long for more news as the release of the show draws nearer.
